Avistar tales part 1
Avistar is a birdwatching fair held once a year in São Paulo. Along with the fair, Banco Itaú sponsors a bird photo contest that quickly became the most important bird photo competition in Brazil, as it gives away good prizes and attracts a lot of photographers. In the first time I entered the contest I submitted a photo of a Sharp-tailed Tyrant (Culicivora caudacuta). It ended up getting a merit prize on the “best record” category. The picture was taken during a trip leaded by Raphael Sobânia near Ponta Grossa, in Parana state. Raphael is a birdwatching guide that specializes in guiding groups in the south of Brazil. He can take you to see this and others regional bird species at close range. The Sharp-tailed Tyrant (Culicivora caudacuta) is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to habitat loss.
